Who we are

Gminne Centrum Kultury i Bibliotek in Skrzyszów (GCKiB) is a public cultural institution serving the Skrzyszów municipality in Lesser Poland, Poland. It combines the functions of a cultural centre and a library network, including the main library and three local branches. GCKiB promotes culture, education, literacy and lifelong learning for children, young people and adults. Its work is rooted in the local community and supported by cooperation with schools, libraries, associations, municipal authorities and cultural organisations. The institution provides access to books and information, creates opportunities for learning and artistic expression, and supports the preservation of local heritage. Through its facilities, professional staff and established community relationships, GCKiB acts as an accessible meeting place where residents can read, learn, create and participate in cultural life.

What we do

GCKiB organises reading clubs, workshops, lectures, competitions, exhibitions, concerts, theatre activities, festivals and seasonal programmes for children and young people. Its libraries provide books, magazines, information services and learning spaces, while its cultural activities connect residents with local heritage and contemporary artistic expression. The institution promotes literacy through formal and non-formal methods and works closely with schools to engage learners directly. GCKiB has experience in digitising cultural and educational content through the Digital TV and Radio Studio “Kulturowy Skrzyszów” and in expanding access to publications through the National Reading Programme 2.0. It also manages long-term publicly funded initiatives, develops sustainable community programmes and supports local groups in planning and delivering their own cultural and educational activitie

Our role in the project

In the PageTurners project, GCKiB serves as the project coordinator and provides the organisational foundation for implementation, communication and timely delivery. It leads project management, resource coordination and partner cooperation. Drawing on its library and literacy expertise, GCKiB analyses gaps in existing practices and prepares input for the Competence Skill Matrix. It defines detailed learning outcomes for the training programme and supports the structuring of content into accessible modular learning units for the Online Educational Resource. GCKiB also uses its network of libraries, schools and community institutions to organise multiplier events, test project materials and gather feedback from young people and educators. Its local partners will support classroom use, dissemination and the future application of the project’s resources.
